Medical Cards help your new GP Practice in transferring your medical records from your previous GP Practice.
You can only use your Medical Card for when you register with a new GP Practice. EHIC cards remain valid up to five years after they are issued.
The system will retain your European Health Insurance Card details up to two years after your EHIC card has expired.
These services are commissioned by Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs).
